Darrell Green is best known as a former cornerback with the NFL’s Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins). During his record-setting 20-year career with the team, his accomplishments include two Super Bowl victories and seven selections to the Pro Bowl. Green is a four-time champion of the NFL’s Fastest Man competition and in 1991, he won the the World’s Fastest Athlete competition in Hawaii, challenging Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Rickey Henderson, and Olympian Carl Lewis. In 1996, he was awarded the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and in 2008, Green was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A natural storyteller, Green is often sought for appearances as a subject matter expert by ESPN, CBS Sports, and NFL Radio to provide relevant context to current events and historical perspectives on everything sports. Green currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

In 2003, Green was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as chairman of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, leading a board of directors comprised of some of the nation’s most reputable companies. He serves as a member and vocal advocate of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Leadership Council, and continually lends his voice internationally to support health and wellness initiatives. As a proponent of education, service, and moral development, he founded The Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation (DGYLF) in 1988 and continues to oversee its operations. The DGYLF provides a wide range of academic development and values-based education programs through Darrell Green Youth Life Learning Centers (DGYLLC) operating in select urban, suburban, and rural neighborhoods.
